is ACG
Australian Citrus Growers (ACG) was established in 1948 as the national
peak body of the Australian citrus growing industry. ACG membership
includes nine grower organisations and three State Statutory Citrus
Authorities, which in turn represent approximately 2,500 commercial
citrus growers.
ACG's main functions are to monitor, investigate and / or promote
areas including exports and imports of citrus fruits and juices;
export market access and development; quality management; research,
development and extension; and promotion both domestically and overseas.
The citrus growing industry also contributes to a significant research,
development and marketing program through Horticulture Australia
Limited (HAL).
ACG’s key objectives are:
· To monitor and comment on all government legislation
and policies which impact on the Australian citrus industry.
· To represent growers interests in discussions and negotiations
with Commonwealth and State governments, government departments
and agencies, R&D and marketing authorities and the wider
citrus industry.
· To establish and coordinate consultative policy making
and action implementation forums.
· To source, collate and distribute statistical data,
market intelligence and other industry information.
· To develop and maintain affiliations with citrus industry
organisations and other rural and commercial organisations.
· To drive market development and promotion initiatives
to support domestic and export sales of citrus.
· To coordinate citrus research and development complemented
by effective extension of research information to growers and
other industry participants.
