This is achieved through Board meetings, National Delegates meetings
as required and Annual Conferences.
Collection and distribution of industry
statistics
This includes export and imports of fresh citrus and juices, FCOJ
price trends, plantings and production, retail prices for oranges,
and world updates.
Setting or varying national levy rates
Citrus Australia is recognised by Australian Government legislation in relation
to Horticulture Australia Limited (HAL) in setting or adjusting
national levy rates. Current levy rates are: - $1.97 per tonne
on all citrus for R&D - $0.75 per tonne on oranges for both
domestic and export market support programs. For further information,

Orderly export marketing
Citrus Australia facilitates orderly export marketing by judicious use of export
control powers administered by HAL in the USA, South Korea, Taiwan
and Thailand. The use of these powers has been supported by the
Administrative Appeals Tribunal for the US market and continues
to enjoy strong grower support.
Market access, market development
and fresh import requests
Citrus Australia liaises closely with Horticultural Market Access Committee,
AQIS, Biosecurity Australia, and DFAT in progressing market access
and development priorities and having input into fresh citrus
import requests.
Communication
Citrus Australia communicates with members, commercial citrus growers and other
industry stakeholders in a number of ways.
Australian Citrus News
Citrus Australia produces a bimonthly newsletter, Australian
Citrus News (ACN), which is distributed free of charge to
all Citrus Australia members and to Australian commercial citrus growers. ACN
is also available by subscription.
Citrus World News
Subscribers receive a fortnightly media scan of Citrus related articles and information.
CITTgroups Australia
Citrus Australia manages the CITTgroups
Australia program. CITTgroups (Citrus Industry Technology
Transfer Groups) Australia are small groups of growers who meet
regularly to exchange ideas and experiences in citrus production.
CITTgroups Australia have proved effective in promoting the uptake
of best practice and new technologies.

The Season Update publication is collated and published by Citrus Australia,
a summary of the publication is available via email, fax or mail

Media Releases
The wider citrus industry and community are informed of key citrus
issues through media releases
distributed to the public media.
Les Baker Award
The Les Baker Award was established in 1986 to commemorate a long-serving
Citrus Australia President, the late Les Baker. This award recognises meritorious
service that contributes to the development, progress and improvement
of the Australian citrus industry. Recipients are presented with
a certificate and $500.00.
Pat Barkley Foundation Nominations
The Pat Barkley Foundation aims to assist the Australian citrus industry to maintain access to world class technical expertise via the provision of international travel grants. These grants allow attendance at scientific meetings, workshops or training programs, or to visit leading scientists overseas.
