ACG FINAL REPORT - "White Paper"

In 2006, the Australian Citrus Industry, through funding assistance from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, undertood a major assessment of its core business to critically examine and adapt to new emerging priorities and to ensure the continued relevance of its future focus.
This comprehensive 6-month process involved reviewing existing reports and plans; consultation with over 100 industry stakeholders; economic modelling; reviewed industry capacity building and development of the industry strategic plan and ACG operating framework.
The industry strategic plan provides a vision for 2015 and outlines four strategic imperatives needed to achieve the vision. They are:
- Increase CONSUMER demand for Australian citrus
- Improve industry COMPETITIVENESS
- Improve industry information and COMMUNICATION systems
- Enhance the CAPABILITY of our industry and leadership
ACG has utlised the industry plan to develop its own two-year operating plan. In order to shape and deliver national industry services that benefit citrus grower businesses and the wider industry. ACG will focus on:
- Establishing ACG as a world class industry body;
- Improve the competitive position of Australian citrus growers; and
- Enhancing industry information and communication
The next stage of the DAFF/ACG project focuses on implementation and capacity building. This will mainly involve:

The ACG Restructure Task Force (RTF) held its fifth and final meeting on 21 December 2007 in order to review feedback from these regional roadshows, written submissions and ACG's December General Meeting and Board Meeting. From this, the RTF made final recommendations to the Implementation team as a 'hand-over'.
ACG's Implementation Team held its inaugural meeting in December 2007 to consider all feedback as above, as well as recommendations from the RTF.
- Business Case/Cost: Benefit Analysis was completed in early June 2008
- Draft Final Report ("White Paper"), distributed and considered at the ACG AGM in May 2008
- Final Report ("White Paper") distributed early June 2008
